Mind Reading and SEO

Google has made several big updates to their algorithm as of lately, which has caused a lot of website owners to go into a panic.  Major blog networks like “rank my site” have been sent packing, and the sad thing is that many people do not know where to turn to get their business back to where it once was.  Google understands that user experience is very important, and they are doing everything they can to ensure that a search engine user gets the best experience when using their site.  So, what does that have to do with mind reading?

Here is a very basic site on how to read minds.  This link opens in a new tab, so you can see exactly what I am going to be talking about the rest of this article.  On this site, we see a basic WordPress page with some content added.  However, I wanted to point out a few things on this website that tend to be signals of good user experience:

 1 – It has a Single Focus

Most websites that you find one the first page of valuable search terms have a single focused. The website owners or web masters have determined what is important to the person actually typing in the search term, and they deliver to the best of their ability.  More than likely, this website is intended to satisfy the search term “how to read minds,” which is made obvious with the exact match domain.  Besides that, the content of the site does nothing but teach people “how to read minds.”  No advertisement, no pop ups, no content that has anything to do with another topic.  A person who visits this site after search for some type of mind reading instructional will be very satisfied with the content, they will stay on the site longer, and time on the site is a big factor in Google’s algorithm.

2 – It links out to Valuable Resources

Other than offer good content for the term it is targeting, people that are on this site are probably going to go to more than just this source for mind reading information.  They are going to want more information, and this website provides them with outbound links to other websites where the user can learn more about the topic they are interested in.  Most new SEOs get very nervous about passing page rank onto other websites with links, but the fact of the matter is that linking to similar sites with good information on a topic similar to yours shows Google that you are a hub of information that can add lots of value to people.  Plus, if the link opens on a new page, then you are again increasing the time spent on your page, which we now know is a major factor for Google.

3 – More than Just Text

This website also offers a few videos.  Videos and interactive content like surveys, etc., are great ways to get people to stay on your page longer, interact with your site more, and definitely increases the chances of your content getting shared in the social networks.  All of the major video sites make it easy to embed content on your site, so I would definitely take advantage of that feature.

If you can read the minds of the people visiting your site, you can provide them with a better user experience, right?  Well, the secret here is that people visit your site from various search terms.  These terms are the windows into the mind of your reader.  Satisfy what they are looking for, and follow the tips above.  Good luck, and happy blogging!
